UAT environment will be refreshed by the latest production state on Sunday 12th January. Please back up the work you have in oss-uat before 12th January.
The Digital Licence app is only available for iOS or Android. There are currently no plans to make the app available for other devices or operating systems.
Onboarding
The first time you use the app after downloading, you will need to go through a series of steps before you can begin using it. These steps are known as onboarding.
Onboarding ensures your identity is verified and your credentials can be downloaded to your device. It also sets up security on your Digital Licence.
As part of onboarding with the Digital Licence app, you will need to create a Queensland Digital Identity (QDI). Your QDI is how we ensure you are who you say you are. As part of the creating a QDI, you will need to verify your information from a series of documents, such as passport, birth certificate or marriage certificate.
You will also set up app security during the onboarding process to keep your personal information safe and secure. The default app security is a 6 digit PIN, which you set during onboarding. You can also choose to use Face ID/Touch ID (iOS) or Fingerprint Access (Android), if you have those on your phone. This can be done while onboarding, or later via the app Settings.
The Digital Licence can be used on a maximum of 5 devices. If you have used it on 5 devices, you will need to remove it from 1 of them before you can add it to a new one. If you still have access to your old device, you can securely reset the app from the Settings screen. If you no longer have access to a device, contact us on 1800 317 389 and we will remotely remove the credential from that device.

To get started with the Digital Licence app you will first need to download it. Once the app is downloaded the next step is to open it. Now it's time to create your Queensland Digital Identity.
A message will appear asking to use the TMR website to sign in - tap to Continue.
When you set up your Queensland Digital Identity through the online portal, the details you provide from your identity documents will be verified against the issuing authority's records, ensuring all details match
This helps protect your private information, keeping it safe and secure
To get a Queensland Digital Identity you will need to provide some forms of identification, such as your driver licence, birth certificate or passport.
Like many other digital accounts you'll need to provide a unique email address which is only accessed by you, then secure your account with a password. Make sure only you have access to this email address and it is not a shared account. This email address and password will be your login for your Queensland Digital Identity.
You will be asked to read and agree to the Queensland Digital Identity Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement.
You will receive an email containing a six digit code to the email address you provided. Enter the code here then press Continue.
You will now need to enter your information from your identity documents. This information needs to be entered exactly as it appears on those documents. If the names on your document do not match, for example your driver licence is in your married name while your birth certificate is in your maiden name, you will need to provide a linking document such as your marriage certificate.
Follow the prompts on screen to verify your identity.
Finally you will be asked to secure your account by providing an Australian mobile number. Setting up multi-factor authentication helps you protect and secure your Queensland Digital Identity. You will need to use multi-factor authentication when adding the Digital Licence app to another phone.
Enter your mobile number then tap Continue. You will receive a one-time code sent to the mobile number you provided. Enter the code here then tap Continue.
You're almost there. A recovery code will be displayed on your device - you will need this if you ever need to log in without the phone you used to set up multi-factor authentication so you will need to make a copy and keep it in a safe place. Tap the Copy Code button and save it securely, then tap Continue.
The app will ask you to accept the Terms and Conditions and create a six-digit PIN to securely access the app. Keep this PIN secure - you will need this anytime you access the app. Then re-enter your PIN to confirm.
The first time your credentials are issued it can take a few minutes. Once this is completed, you have now successfully set up your Digital Licence and you are ready to begin using it.
Sharing your information
The Digital Licence uses a consent-based model for sharing information. Each time you want to share information, you will know exactly what you are sharing and must consent to share. This way, you can be sure you are only sharing what you need to, with the people you need to.
When you want to share your information, select one of your credentials from the app. Information for that credential will be displayed. For example, if you select your Driver Licence, your licence number will be displayed.
At the bottom of the screen, you will see a Share button. When you select this button, you will be asked what information you wish to share. These groups of information are called sharing bundles. Each bundle matches a situation where you may need to verify your information with an industry, business or organisation.

You will notice on the bottom of the Settings screen the version number of the app you have on your device.
Yo change your PIN select Change PIN from the options menu. You will first need to enter your current PIN, then enter your new PIN then confirm your new PIN by entering it again.
A confirmation message will appear on your phone telling you that you have successfully changed your PIN.
The Reset Device option allows you to securely remove your digital documents from the digital license app. For example, if you get a new phone, resetting the app on your old phone securely removes it. The reset device action cannot be undone, so once you have taken this action, you will need to use your Digital Identity email and password to set up the app on this device or another device.
You will be asked to confirm if you want to continue the reset. A message telling you the reset was successful will appear on your phone screen.
At any time you can review the Privacy statement and the Terms and Conditions you agreed to when you accepted the Digital Licence by selecting the Terms and Conditions option

Tell the officer you have the Digital Licence app on your phone, then wait for the officer to ask you to use your phone. Don't reach for your phone until you're asked.
Open the app, and open your Driver Licence credential. Present this screen to the police officer, who will take note of your information, or scan your app with their mobile device. This will give the officer the information they require.
You will not need to hand your device to the officer for the purpose of checking your digital licence. They will be able to get the information they need either through visual check, or by noting or scanning the Driver Licence credential.
Sharing a printable copy
In this situation a business may need to take a photocopy of your physical driver licence. Since that's not possible with your phone, the Digital Licence app lets you export your information in a PDF document.
Open the app, select Share Licence, and then the 'Share a printable copy' sharing bundle. After you consent, you will be asked to share a document named 'credential.pdf' using your phone's sharing methods, such as SMS, email or messenger apps.
The business you are sharing this information with will let you know how they would like to receive your PDF file. The PDF file you share with them is digitally signed and encrypted. This means if any changes are made to the document, they will show up as an error in the PDF.
Here's an example of how to share your information as a PDF document.

Troubleshooting
No internet service
The Digital Licence app stores your encrypted information on the device. Using the internet, it will regularly check with our systems to ensure the information in the app is up to date.
If no internet service is available when you open the app, it will use the latest version of your information stored on your device. So you can continue to use the app to verify your identity.
Location services
The Digital Licence app uses Bluetooth technology to transfer information to another Digital Licence. The 'Location services' setting on your device must be active for this transfer to work correctly. The app does not track your location.
Flat battery
It is your responsibility to keep your device charged for situations when you expect to need your Digital Licence.
Logging onto the app on a new device
For security reasons you cannot transfer the app between devices and will need to download a new app from the app stores, and log in using your Queensland Digital Identity (QDI). It is also recommended to reset the Digital Licence app on the old device if no longer required.
If you are logging onto your app for the first time on a new iPhone, you may encounter the following issue:
"Unable to login with FaceID. Please enter your PIN to continue." Followed by "Something went wrong. An error has occurred. Please try again."
Please do the following to resolve this issue:
Delete the app from your phone
Clear your cache
Reinstall the app
Login.
I've lost my phone
When you install the Digital Licence app, you must create a PIN, and optionally, enable Face ID/Touch ID (iOS) or Fingerprint Access (Android). Every time you open the app, including switching between apps, you need to enter your PIN, or scan your finger/face. Your private information is encrypted on your device and only available after the PIN is entered or Face ID/Touch ID/Fingerprint Access are recognised.
If you lose your phone, your private information is protected by the security features you have enabled this in the app, as well as any security features you have enabled to access your phone (such as fingerprint or face scan).
If you lose your phone, contact us on 1800 317 389 and we will remove your credentials from the lost device. That way, if someone is able to get past your phone and app security, your credentials will no longer be in the app.
When you get a new device, you can install the app. Your credentials will download automatically when you log in to the app.
This is one of the ways that the digital licence is more secure than a physical card, which could be misused if found.
